Bopsidy

Bopsidy Onboarding

Bopsidy is a site to bring together and support the dance community. Users can promote their work, find new dance classes, learn about teachers, dancers, studios and dance groups, and enjoy dance videos.

Project Goals

Working directly with the CEO, my aim is to create a fun, easy, friendly experience for dancers to create their own pages, add classes, and associated dance groups.

This functionality is not yet launched, but is coming soon.

Key Design Motivators

Delight

Dance is even better when you share. Interactions with Bopsidy should be fun, colorful, unexpected and, where appropriate, motion-oriented.

Ease of use

Users shouldn't have to think very hard. We should do the heavy lifting to make everything as simple as possible.

Encouragement

The more users share, the stronger the dance community will be. We want users to feel good about participating.

Design Solution

Delight

Onboarding doesn't have to be boring. Using Bopsidy's key purple and orange colors, we kicked the traditional entry box to the curb and made the input fields feel more open and welcoming.

Top: Active State

Middle: Completed State

Bottom: Error State

Ease of use

Our aim is to take away as much burden from the user as possible.

Top: Empty input field displays sample Custom URL, while help text prompts the user to customize their experience.

Second: When input field is in active state, the beginning of the URL is automatically entered, allowing user to only enter the editable portion. Help text displays, guiding the user to the detailed selection criteria.

Third: Once the URL is chosen, we'll do a data check to approve it

Fourth: If there is any problem with the chosen URL, we'll give the user the specific error, along with repeating the selection criteria.

Encouragement

We want users to be able to self-define their styles and roles. We always allow for multiple selections in categories, and encourage the users to help us support them by requesting we add new genres, roles, and other attributes. (Tap shoes, anyone?)

Measuring Success

We'll be doing user testing once we're ready to role out this new feature. Our goals will be:

  • Ease of use, measured by time to complete, questions asked, correct information inputted
  • Delight, measured by user reactions as they proceed through their tasks
  • Encouragement, measured by motivation to add optional information and enthusiasm for sharing
